Description

Thermal envelope renovation of the high-rise building (IGH) of the Faculty of Pharmacy at La Timone (37 meters high), which includes training rooms, research laboratories, lecture halls, documentation areas, and technical premises.

Project Objectives:

  • Improve the building’s image with a renewed appearance while preserving the existing heritage that defines the building’s identity:
    • Replacement of 6,000 m² of exterior joinery
    • Façade offset outward while retaining the existing wooden façades (only the glazed parts are removed)
  • Significantly reduce energy consumption
    • Installation of 450 m² of photovoltaic panels
  • Improve thermal comfort control:
    • Hybrid VRV heating system providing heating and cooling all year round, independently on each terminal (some lab areas require cooling year-round)
  • Decarbonize energy sources
  • Control investment and maintenance costs
  • Address fire safety constraints related to a high-rise building constructed before current IGH regulations
  • Commissioning mission and project monitoring
